(SPOT.ph) The Philippines is one of the world’s worst offenders when it comes to plastic pollution. We’ve got single-use straws and sachets floating in our waters, food containers in dumpsites, and plastic bags clogging our sewage. In an effort to promote responsible disposal of plastic waste, SM Supermalls just opened their North EDSA and Fairview branches as drop-off points for plastic waste.
Quezon City residents can take their empty, clean, and dry plastic waste to SM City Fairview (between Terminal A and Open Parking B) and SM City North Edsa (Annex Building Driveway) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plastic waste collection is still ongoing at SM Megamall (Building B Supermarket) and SM Mall of Asia (North Parking Building near SM Hypermarket). The types of plastics you can bring are PET (soda bottles, furniture); HDPE (bottles, grocery bags, pouches); LDPE (grocery bags, containers, dispensing bottles); PP (car parts, food containers, dishware); and PS (cafeteria trays, plastic utensils, toys). Other plastic types except for PVC are also accepted.
