More than 3,500 survivors of super typhoon Yolanda from Leyte and Samar were given medical treatment through the collaboration of the Philippine Air Force’s “Operation Salubong” and SM Foundation’s “Operation Tulong Express” programs at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.
In cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Health, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the relief effort was also supported daily by hundreds of volunteers and donors from the private sector across Metro Manila.
The SM group has set up a P100 million calamity fund for all areas affected by typhoon Yolanda and the 7.2 magnitudes in Bohol. The fund will focus on rebuilding homes, community centers, schools, and churches, aside from providing immediate relief food packs and supplies.
SM Foundation is the socio-civic arm of holding firm SM Investments Corporation which provides a host of services to the underprivileged within its host communities. SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express is an immediate response to natural calamities or disasters that provide victims with relief, aid, and medical assistance.
