SM Garners Multiple Awards
(25 June 2012. Pasay City, Philippines) Philippine conglomerate SM Investments Corporation (SM) and its subsidiaries recently garnered awards from two international publications and one global business group.
SM and its subsidiaries received honors from Corporate Governance Asia, a Hong Kong-based publication which is one of the most authoritative journals on corporate governance in the region. The publication cited SM in two of its awards programs, namely the 8th Corporate Governance Asia Awards and the 3rd Asian Corporate Director Recognition Awards.
Under the CG Asia Awards, SM and two of its subsidiaries, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) and BDO were chosen as awardees from the Philippines, in recognition of their continuing commitment to the development of corporate governance in the region.
In addition, Ms. Teresita Sy-Coson, BDO Chairperson and SM Vice Chairperson; and Mr. Henry Sy, Jr., SM and SM Development Corporation (SMDC) Vice Chairman were both selected as winners in the 3rd Asian Corporate Director Award.
Meanwhile, another international publication, Finance Asia recently recognized SM as one of the Best Managed Companies in the Philippines. While Mr. Jeffrey Lim, SM Prime Executive Vice President and Chief Finance Officer was cited as he ranked third in the Best CFO category in the Philippines.
Furthermore, SM reaped the International Award for Business Excellence given by the Global Trade Leaders’ Club based in Madrid, Spain. According to the group, “The recognition is given to distinguished firms whose products and services have deserved universal acclaim.”
